On June 7, the Central China Division of the 29th National College Students Tennis Championship concluded successfully. The Jiangxi University of Science and Technology tennis team, leveraging their solid technical skills, seamless teamwork, and tenacious spirit, overcame numerous challenges to defeat strong competitors and ultimately claim the team championship, setting a new record for the university's tennis achievements and showcasing the vibrant, competitive spirit of its student athletes.
The 29th National College Tennis Championship is a top-tier tennis event with immense influence and high prestige among Chinese universities, organized by the China Student Sports Federation. It brings together over 100 universities and more than 1,000 professional athletes from across the country for competitive matches. The competition is intense and highly challenging, with all participating teams boasting strong capabilities as they vie for excellence in skill and honor on the court. This event not only represents the pinnacle of collegiate tennis competitiveness but also serves as a comprehensive showcase of the educational achievements in sports at various universities.
During the competition, our university's team members maintained a calm mindset and performed at their best throughout. From the group stage to the knockout rounds, the team consistently advanced steadily and methodically. Facing strong opponents from prestigious universities, the players demonstrated remarkable composure and resilience: in the quarterfinals against Wuhan Business University, they withstood immense pressure and staged a comeback to advance to the semifinals when the opponent was on the verge of eliminating them; in the semifinals against Wuhan Sports University, our tennis team once again eliminated their rivals through exceptional mental fortitude and technical excellence, securing a place in the final. The final opponent, Hubei Normal University, was highly formidable. After losing the first singles match, our second singles player Xu Chaoqiang remained undaunted, fought tenaciously, and won the match to level the series at 1–1. In the doubles showdown, Ling Zhengfeng and Wang Saifeng combined seamless teamwork with outstanding individual performance to clinch a decisive 6–4 victory and claim the championship trophy.
This championship victory is the result of the collective dedication and relentless effort of all faculty and students of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology's tennis team, and a vivid demonstration of the university's commitment to sports education.
